What's new: Refer a Friend. Give $20, get $20 Who it's for: anyone with a Granted account, and friends who are new to Granted Cost: free. The gift cards don't change our fee Where to find it: the "Give $20, get $20" banner on your home screen in the Granted app
⚠️ Note: [confirm with Jordan and Mirza where the link lives and where it lands on Nov 9. MAR-362 ships the home banner only.]
What you can do now
You can now share a personal link with a friend who has a medical bill. When your friend signs up with your link and sets up their first case, you each get a $20 gift card. There's no limit on how many friends you can refer.
How it works
Share your link. Tap the "Give $20, get $20" banner, then text or email your link.
Your friend signs up on the web. Opening the link in a browser, even on a phone, attaches the referral.
Your friend sets up their first case. They upload a bill or EOB (explanation of benefits), sign a HIPAA authorization so we can talk to their provider, and confirm their payment preferences.
You each get $20. After a quick review, our rewards partner, Tremendous, emails and texts you both a gift card link, usually within 14 days.
⚠️ Note: [the referral terms draft (section 3) lists only three required steps. The v0 plan counts every required item on the case. Make the terms match.]
Do you need to do anything?
If you know someone with a medical bill, share your link and let them know you get a reward if they sign up. If not, nothing changes for you.
Your friend's bill counts if it's their own, more than $300 owed, not paid in full, from the last 12 months, and a bill Granted hasn't worked on before. Your friend needs to be new to Granted. The $20 is a gift card, not a discount on our fee. We tell you when a referral qualifies, and we never share your friend's bills or health information.
Questions about Refer a Friend
Do I need a medical bill to refer a friend?
No, you don't need a medical bill to refer a friend to Granted. Anyone with an account who is 18 or older and lives in the US can share a link. Only your friend needs a qualifying bill.
What if my friend signed up without my link?
If your friend signed up without your link, they can contact Granted support before they finish their case steps. We may add the referral after a review.
⚠️ Note: [confirm with Jordan what happens after the steps are finished.]
Can family members be referred?
Yes, family, people you live with, and people on your health plan can be referred to Granted. Those referrals get extra review. Each friend can be referred once, and self-referrals don't count.
Who is Granted?
Granted is a digital health advocate that reviews medical bills and EOBs, finds billing errors, negotiates bills, appeals denied claims, and checks eligibility for income based discounts. Refer a Friend lets you share that help and get a $20 gift card. Granted is free to start. If we lower a bill, our fee is 10% of the negotiated savings, capped at $300 per bill.

⚠️ Note: [/referral-terms isn't live yet (MAR-376, waiting on legal). Legal also needs to answer whether the gift card raises inducement rules for Medicare or Medicaid members.]
